About the Event
Discussion night on the topic of creative activism. Participants will have access to a syllabus with readings & media related to the topic and should plan to read the materials in advance of the discussion night. The discussion leaders, Emily K Hanks & Sonita Haynes will set up the basic syllabus; however, the syllabus is open and rolling -- meaning the participants can also add suggested readings & material for the group to consider and discuss.
About the discussion leaders:
--Sonita Haynes is an interdisciplinary artist who has worked in many facets of the fashion world — from luxury retail, to costume design, fashion styling and curation.
--Dr. Emily Kay Hanks is an Associate Professor in Political Science at Texas State University where she teaches and conducts research on ethics in government and organizational theory and is part of a growing movement of critical scholarship in the nonprofit and voluntary sector. In her “previous life,” Dr. Hanks pursued her interest in helping people be more attentive and engaged in their lives and institutions at the Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Life and on the stage at the Zachary-Scott Theatre in Austin, Texas.
