About the Event

Artist Jess Bee will lead us in a hands-on fiber arts project involving photographs & embellishment. In advance of the workshop, participants will send Jess a photo that tells a story. The photo can be about themselves, a friend, a family member or anything really! Jess will transfer the photo onto an 8x10 piece of canvas, and during the workshop, we will use bits of fabric, embroidery floss and embellishments to augment the photograph to help tell & extend the story. Participants can bring their own textiles and materials to add if they wish.

Jess Bee is a mixed-media artist who works primarily in fiber arts. In her fabric collages she employs re-purposed fabric scraps, and frequently uses bright colors, varied textures, and repeated geometric shapes and patterns to create landscapes and figures. She also incorporates techniques & practices like surface design, embroidery, printmaking, weaving, sewing, costume design, puppet-building, and stop-motion animation. Jess currently works in the costume department at ZACH Theatre.
